The Austell Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining streets and providing water for our city.  Each of these services heavily impacts the total quality of life for our citizens, and each is significant to the balance of our City’s infrastructure.

Maintenance of our roads, streets, right-of-ways, sidewalks and street signs are important to the safety of our citizens as well as the overall appearance of our City.  While large projects, such as curb to curb resurfacing, are done by private contractors, the Street Maintenance Division is responsible for all other related tasks.

Austell’s Water Department purchases water from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, a regional wholesaler that provides water to governments and large businesses in the county. City water and services are provided to approximately 2,800 customers who use more than 1,000,000 gallons of water each day, and at least 63% of these water customers are part of a 19 mile network with the city limits of Austell.
