The Austell Police Department is
charged with the responsibility of serving and safeguarding the residents,
businesses and visitors within our city limits. Guided by City Ordinances
enacted by the Mayor and Council, laws of the State of Georgia and the
Constitution of the United States, the Police Department quickly responds to
calls to protect lives and property.
Police Chief Bob Starrett and
Deputy Chief Natalie Poulk, 32 Officers and 9 Support Personnel maintain a high
standard of professionalism as they handle safety and security issues for the
citizens of Austell. Currently, 2 of our Department Personnel are graduates of
the FBI National Academy and they are part of the certified personnel who
conduct in-house training for continuing education courses required by P.O.S.T.
In addition to the
responsibilities of routine patrol; traffic enforcement; investigative work and
suppressing crime, the Austell Police Department administers the City’s
Emergency 911 operation. The Tactical Operation Unit, Drug Unit, Motorcycle Unit
and 3 K-9 Units as well as Foot Patrol and Bike Patrol Units play an important
role preserving the safety and security of our City.
Austell’s Police Department
sponsors community outreach programs. The D.A.R.E. program has been extremely
well received in our schools; the Explorer Program is very strong; courses have
been offered for a Citizen Police Academy and Neighborhood Watch Programs are
available to the community.
