The Austell Police Department needs young people. . .

The City of Austell Police Explorers were established in 1998.  The program is intended for youths ages 14-21.  The new session will meet at the Austell Police Department every second Monday night of the month, beginning July 16, 2001 at 7:00 p.m.   In the past Police Explorers have been involved in benefits, fund raisers, city functions and asked to assist Police Officers in other functions centering around Police work and the community as a whole.

The Police Explorers will receive training from qualified Police Officers and Instructors on a multitude of topics.  Including, traffic laws, traffic crash investigation, criminal law, warrants and affidavits, as well as many other topics.  They are expected to act and present a positive image at all time while participating in the program.  An Explorer will serve at the direction of the Explorer Commander.  We intend to maintain a positive image in the community and we hold each Explorer to that same expectation.  We will have fun and each member of the Explorers will have the opportunity to learn a great deal about Police work and participate in selected Police activities.

Anyone interested in the Police Explorer Program may contact Sergeant Sylvia England at the Austell Police Department 770 944-4331.
