Citizens Police Academy | Community Oriented Policing | D.A.R.E. |Explorers | K-9 Patrol | Neighborhood Watch Program

The purpose of the Austell Police Department Citizens Police Academy is to provide the participants with a deeper understanding of the skills and knowledge required by the modern day Police Officer and other Police Department personnel.  This will be accomplished through the use of qualified instructors, video and audio presentations, as well as practical "hands-on" exercises.

Participants will utilize the information provided during this ten week program to hopefully gain a new insight into the difficulties, challenges, and dangers a Police Officer face through the normal function of their daily activities.  Difficulties not only come from those the encounter on the street, but also from within the Justice System itself.

We hope that you will have a deeper appreciation for those who choose to "Serve and Protect" as Law Enforcement Officers and Support Personnel have chosen to do. As most who enter this field do so because they love to help others, yet choose to do it in a time when the respect that used to be commonplace, is little or nonexistent.

It is the hope of the Austell Police Department that providing this service will help our community to have a better understanding of the services we perform, and build relationships between our officers and our citizens.

Our Department wants you to learn, as well as enjoy yourself during this program.  Please feel free to ask any of our instructors and/or staff questions during this time.  We hope that you will feel your time will have been well spent, and that you will have gained a better understanding for Law Enforcement.  We welcome any suggestions that you feel will help us to make this program better for future classes.
