The Austell Police Department proudly participates in the nationwide Community Oriented Policing (C.O.P.S.) program.  This is a program that was designed to reintroduce closer relationships between Police Officers and the citizens they serve on a more individual bases.  This is accomplished by getting the Police Officers out of their patrol vehicles and on the streets, by such means as implementing bicycle patrols, foot beats, and other activities to meet and converse on a more personable basis with the citizens of their perspective communities.

Since the inception of the program the Austell Police Department has introduced bicycle patrol and foot beats to our citizens.  The bicycles were purchased through donations from local businesses.  The Officers patrol business districts, subdivisions, and other more remote areas of the City as often as possible .  Each officer is also encouraged to walk and meet business and homeowners for a period of time during every tour of duty.  This more personable approach has been very well received by the community.
